If Australia’s series win in South Africa has taught us anything, its that they are not, repeat not, to be underestimated, especially by the English, ahead of this summers Ashes clash. Their mini resurgence has seen new players step manfully into the breach and come out victorious. Phillip Hughes, Ben Hilfenhaus, Peter Siddle, Marcus North, [...]
Finally! It’s just been announced, a legspinner is once again in the Australian squad! It didn’t happen how I would’ve liked - Ronnie is still in the XI. Instead, Bryce makes his debut courtesy of a Marcus North tummy bug. But ultimately, I’ll take a leggie in the side anyway I can get it. Here’s hoping he bags a couple of 5-fors and books his Ashes ticket this week!

We’re less than 50 days away from the Ashes and Australia have named their touring squad. Here is my pick of the top XI batting order plus the second fiddles:
Phillip Hughes
Simon Katich
Ricky Ponting
Michael Clarke
Michael Hussey (demoted one spot due to lack of form)
Marcus North
Brad Haddin
Mitchell Johnson
Brett Lee
Peter Siddle
Stuart Clark
And the other guys left to carry the kit bag...
The 1st Test seems to be heading towards a draw, barring some English brain melt a la Adelaide 2006. Today looks like it might face rain interruptions so Australia will barely have time to build a substantial lead, declare then hope for an English batting implosion. Hard to see it happening but if anyone could do it, England can.
Encouraging to see Marcus North put on some runs. Not so encouraging...
